Published:

If you want to expand your online presence to the Balkans, now is the perfect opportunity. We offer national domains for registration for all countries in the region that have their own domain. Let’s take a look at the benefits and registration conditions for each domain.

.SI domain

Flag of SloveniaOne of the most popular domains in the Balkans is the national domain name of Slovenia, which has over 120,000 registrations. Until 2008, it was only available to legal entities, but since then it has also been available to Slovenian citizens, as well as to natural and legal persons from abroad.

.HR

Flag of CroatiaOne of the older national domains, available since 1993. To date, it has over 97,000 registrations. It is available to all Croatian citizens and companies established in Croatia with a personal identification number (OIB). It can also be registered by legal entities established in the territory of the European Union with a VAT number. If you do not meet the conditions for registration, the .COM.HR domain is also available for registration by all legal and natural persons, without restrictions.

.RS

Flag of SerbiaThe .RS domain has been available since 2008, when it replaced Yugoslavia’s .YU domain. Although it has only been available for less than a decade, it has already recorded more than 93,000 registrations. It is also one of the few domains to offer a Cyrillic version, namely .СРБ.

If you have an administrative contact in Serbia and want to present yourself on the local market, we recommend registering a .RS domain. If you do not have an administrative contact in Serbia, please contact us and we will make all the necessary arrangements to register your .RS domain.

.BA

Flag of Bosnia and HerzegovinaThe national domain of Bosnia and Herzegovina has been available since 1996. Since then, around 18,800 domains have been registered. Despite the low number of registrations, it offers you an excellent opportunity to present yourself on the Bosnian market, as it is considered trustworthy among the local population. The domain can be registered by all natural and legal persons from Bosnia and foreigners who have an administrative contact in Bosnia. If you do not have one, NEOSERV can provide you with a form to obtain one.

.ME domain

Flag of MontenegroMontenegro’s national domain has more than one million registrations. One reason is that it’s free to register, but the main reason is that it’s the most personal domain extension in the world. In English or Slovenian, it is perfect for unique web presentations. To give a few examples in English: find.me, drive.me, learn.me and in Slovenian: embrace.me, zapelji.me, spin.me, etc. Registering it will not only help you reach local visitors, but will also allow you to showcase your product or personal website on the global market in a very special and memorable way.

.AL

Flag of AlbaniaSince 2013, the .AL. domain, which is the national domain of Albania, has been free to register. With only around 16,000 registered domains, registering it will also give you a unique identity that will allow you to build your visibility in the Albanian market. It is available for registration to all legal and natural persons, without any restrictions. In addition to the .AL extension, third level extensions are also available, but only legal and natural persons from Albania can register it.

.MK

Flag of MacedoniaOne of the oldest domains of the former Commonwealth is the national domain of Macedonia. It can be registered by any legal or natural person without restrictions. You simply need this domain to present yourself on the Macedonian market, as registering it will help you gain the trust of local web visitors or potential customers. A Cyrillic version of .MKД is also available.

.RO

Flag of RomaniaThe Romanian national domain .RO has been available since 1991. It has the largest population of any country in the Balkans (19 million), so it is not surprising that more than 740,000.RO domains have been registered to date. It has no restrictions on registration and is available to all legal and natural persons.

.BG

Flag of BulgariaBulgaria’s national domain – .BG – has also been available since 1991. Unlike the Romanian national domain, despite tradition, only just over 50,000 .BG domains have been registered. It has no registration restrictions, so it is an excellent choice if you want to present yourself on the Bulgarian market.

.TR

Flag of TurkeyOne of the national domains with a long tradition is the Turkish national domain .TR, which has been available since 1990. Over 350,000 have been registered. You can easily register it too, as it has no restrictions and is available to all legal and natural persons.

.GR

Flag of GreeceThe domain with the longest tradition in the Balkans is the national domain of Greece. It has been around since 1989, making it one of the oldest national domains. Over 380,000 registrations have been recorded. It is available to all legal and natural persons, without restrictions.

Why register a national domain?

As mentioned above, registering a national domain is an excellent choice if you want to present yourself in the market of a particular country. In addition, registering it is important for at least three other reasons:

1. Better search engine rankings

For example, if you use a .HR domain for Croatian visitors, your website will rank higher in Google search results than if you use one of the generic or thematic domains. This is because a national domain is targeted at a specific market or audience, which is recognised by Google, which sees pages with a national domain as more relevant.

2. Expanding your brand into new markets

No matter what domain you use, you can use a national domain to present your product in a specific market. For example, if you use vas-produkt.rs, web visitors will know immediately that your product is primarily aimed at Serbian residents.

3. Increased visibility

Registering a national domain brings another important advantage. You will increase your visibility in the local market and you can effectively outpace competitors who are not yet present in a particular market.

So there are more than enough reasons to register a national domain. Choose a domain for the country where you want to be present, and to make the decision even easier, we’ve got discounted prices for you!
