If it is a presentation of activity, it is very good that the domain also includes the name of this activity (e.g. auto-mechanic-selan.si). For a brand, it is recommended that the domain contains the brand name (e.g. www.mercator.si).

  • What is a domain?

    A domain is a unique web address through which internet users can access the desired website. Each domain consists of two parts:

    • domain name,
    • domain extension.

    In our case, the domain name is represented by the record "neoserv", and we have chosen the extension .COM. If we put the individual parts together, we find that we are using the domain neoserv.com, where you are currently located.

  • What does "registration" of a domain mean?

    Domain registration is a simple process through which an individual or company acquires their own web address and thus becomes the holder or owner of the domain. If you want to present yourself on the internet with your website, domain registration is certainly one of the first steps you will have to take.

  • How does domain registration work?

    We have made sure that domain registration on the NEOSERV.com website is very fast and simple. In the blue box at the top of the page, enter the desired domain (e.g. mypage.si) and click on the green button "CHECK DOMAIN". From the list of domains with different domain extensions, select the appropriate one and add it to the cart. Visit the online cart and follow the simple instructions for domain registration.

    After the transaction has been recorded or the confirmation of payment has been sent, we will register your domain and inform you about all the details at the email address you provided during the registration process.

  • Is domain registration a one-time cost?

    You can register a domain for at least one year, and during this period you will not have any additional costs besides the registration itself. If you want to keep the ownership of the domain after the period has expired, you will have to renew it.

    We advise you to register the domain for several years, as we at NEOSERV offer an additional discount on multi-year registration.

  • Does it matter where I register the domain? Isn't it the same if I choose the cheapest provider?

    Choosing a domain registrar is very important, as the service is not just about the price. We often notice that users who opt for low-quality registrars experience dissatisfaction and problems. These are most often associated with unresponsiveness of the support service, and certain registrars also do not offer some functionalities for effective management of registered domains.

    An IDN domain is a domain that includes special characters in its name. Special characters include diacritics, letters with accents, and the like.

  • What should I pay attention to when registering domains with special characters?

    With domains with special characters, such as diacritics and letters with accents, there are usually problems with sending and receiving email. Google (Gmail) also does not support the operation of email on so-called IDN domains.

  • Can I register a domain that is already taken?

    Since each domain represents a unique web address, it is not possible to register an already registered domain. In this case, you have three options:

    1. Choose another domain name.
    2. Register a domain with a different domain extension.
    3. Contact the current owner of the domain and ask about the possibility of purchase.
  • I registered a domain with you. How long does it take for it to be visible on the web?

    When we record your transaction (or when you send us a confirmation of payment), we immediately register the domain and immediately notify you at your email address. To make the domain visible on the web, you will then need to wait another 24 to 48 hours, as DNS records need to be refreshed worldwide.

  • Can I hide information about who is the owner of the domain?

    The so-called WHOIS database allows web users to easily check who is the owner of a particular domain. Which data is visible to the public depends on the top-level domain. For the domain with the extension .SI, for example, only the email address is listed in the public WHOIS database in the case of a natural person, while more data is visible in the case of a company (name and headquarters of the company, e-mail, telephone number, fax).

    Some top-level domains allow data to be hidden from the public. The service, which we also offer at NEOSERV, is called WHOIS protection, but we emphasize once again that it cannot be used with every domain. In principle, generic domains support WHOIS protection, while national ones do not.

  • Can I register a domain for just one month?

    It is not possible to register a domain for just one month. The minimum period is one year, and the maximum depends on the rules of each top-level domain. Some can be registered for a maximum of five years, others for a maximum of ten years. After the registration period, you can extend the domain and thus maintain its ownership.

    Let us mention here that it is not possible to cancel the registration of a domain. If you do not want to use it, simply do not extend it next year.

  • I only need a domain for email. Do I also need hosting for email?

    Even though you only need a domain for using email, you will also have to rent a hosting package. Emails remain stored on the server until you read them and transfer them to your device. If you want, you can set up email settings so that messages remain on the server even after viewing in the local email client.
