USEFUL TIPS FOR

RENEWING THE DOMAIN

What if I forget to renew the domain?

After expiration, the domain goes into quarantine status, which means that the website and email on this domain no longer work, but the domain is still reserved for the old owner and is not (yet) available for free registration.

In quarantine status, the domain remains for several days, weeks or in extreme cases even several months. .SI domains remain in quarantine for 30 days, and revival from quarantine is free of charge. For other domains (.COM, .EU, .NET, etc.) quarantine usually lasts between 60 and 90 days, and revival from quarantine can also incur additional costs (even more than 100 €).

Therefore, we strongly recommend timely renewal of all domains.

How do I renew domains at NEOSERV?

Very simple!

ADo you already have domains registered at NEOSERV?
Then just wait for us to send you a notice of domain expiration to your e-mail. The notice will be forwarded several times, so there is no worry that you would forget to renew.
BDo you still have domains at the old registrar, but would like to renew them at NEOSERV?
That's also very simple! Just order a domain transfer to NEOSERV. The domains will be automatically renewed for 1 year during the transfer. Next year you will automatically receive a notice of renewal.

WHY NEOSERV

Frequently Asked Questions and Answers

  • What does "extension" of a domain mean?

When you register a domain, you become its owner for a certain period of time. If you want the domain to still belong to you after this period, you need to renew it.

You renew the domain by paying the proforma invoice, which we send to your email address before the domain expires (you can also review proforma invoices and invoices in the My NEOSERV Client Portal My NEOSERV). We will renew your domain as soon as we record the transaction.

  • I registered a domain for 1 year, but I would like to renew it for a longer period. Is this possible?

Just as you can register a domain for a longer period, you can also renew it. If you want to renew your domain for a longer period, let us know at the email address info@neoserv.com and we will prepare a suitable proforma invoice for you.

Some domains can be registered or renewed for a maximum of ten years (for example .COM, .NET, .ORG), some for a maximum of five years (.SI, .HR), while for some registration for more than one year is not possible (.DE, .AT). For accurate information, visit our domain price list, click on the desired domain and check the information about the maximum period of registration/extension of the domain.

  • Why renew my domain with NEOSERV rather than somewhere else?

There are many reasons to renew the domain with us. Let's just highlight a few of the most important ones:

    • You can renew at a price that is extremely favorable compared to other providers.
    • In addition to the domain, you also receive the option to use free DNS hosting.
    • You can easily manage all your domains in the friendly My NEOSERV Client Portal.
    • You can redirect the email associated with the domain to another email address without a purchased hosting package.
    • In case of problems or questions, we offer professional, fast and constantly available support.
    • We are a company with tradition (23 years), and more than 20,000 customers have already praised our services.
  • I want to transfer the domain to you. Is it mandatory to renew it during the transfer?

Whether you will have to renew the domain at the same time as transferring it to us depends on the domain extension, as the rules are set by the top registrars. For the national domain .SI, it is not necessary to renew it during the transfer, while generic domains .COM, .NET and .ORG need to be renewed for at least one year.

We advise you to check the domain price list and click on the domain that is the subject of the transfer. There you will find information on whether it will be necessary to also renew the domain during the transfer.

  • I'm worried that I might forget to renew the domain. Will you notify me of its expiration early enough?

You can be completely carefree, as we will notify you of the domain expiration three times via email. We advise you to renew the domain as soon as you receive the first notification, thus avoiding any potential inconveniences.

It will also not be superfluous to check your contact details in the My NEOSERV Client Portal My NEOSERV and make sure that you have entrusted us with an email address that you use regularly.

  • I no longer want to renew the domain. Can there be any additional costs?

If you do not want to renew the domain, simply wait for it to expire. You will not incur any additional costs in this case.

  • Can I terminate the ownership of the domain before it expires?

The rules on deletion or early termination of domain ownership are set by the top registrars. For example, let's look at the national domain .SI, which is managed by the top registrar Register.si under the auspices of Arnes. According to their General Terms and Conditions, deletion is possible according to the following procedure:

    1. The registrar, who has received confirmation from the domain holder, submits a request for its deletion.
    2. Arnes deletes it from its database of registered domains.
    3. The domain becomes available for registration again.

The need to delete a domain arises only in rare cases. If you no longer need the domain, we advise you to simply wait for it to expire.

  • My domain has expired, and the website and email are no longer working. What should I do?

Did you forget to renew the domain in time? Don't worry too quickly, because if it has expired recently, you will most likely be able to renew the domain without additional costs. For example, let's look at what rules apply in this case for the Slovenian national domain .SI and for most generic domains (e.g. .COM, .NET, .ORG).

The .SI domain acquires a quarantine status for 30 days after expiration. During this period, only you have the right to renew it, and at the same time, no additional costs arise with the extension. Therefore, you can renew the domain according to the valid price list of your registrar. If you do not renew the domain within 30 days, the top registrar deletes it from quarantine, making it free for registration again. From then on, anyone can register it.

Different rules apply for .COM, .NET, .ORG and similar domains. If not much time has passed since the domain expired, you can renew the domain without additional costs. However, if several weeks have passed since the expiration, an additional payment is required to renew the domain, as the top registrars charge redemption fees in this case. These can reach even ten times the prices of domain registration or extension.

* Promotional price for domain renewal applies to domains that are being transferred from other domain registrars to NEOSERV. In case of renewing a domain that is already registered with NEOSERV, the renewal price according to the published price list is applied.
