Why is it so rare to find a themed domain?

There are three main reasons why we rarely come across a themed domain when “googling” or browsing the web:

1. Because they are newer domains, the strength of the websites that are built on them is lower than that of websites that have been built on .COM, .NET, .ORG and similar domains for many years. And because they are less powerful, they are also ranked slightly lower in search engines for the time being. The problem is therefore not related to the domain extension itself, but to the age of the domains.
2. Many people do not even know that thematic domains exist. People have only been visiting websites with ‘classic’ domain extensions for about 20 years, but that is about to change. We will also come across more and more newer themed domains as more and more people know about them.
3. Many people believe that newer domains do not appear in search engines because Google does not treat them in the same way as other domains (e.g. as .COM or .NET). This is a misconception, as Google itself has announced via its blog that it treats thematic domains in exactly the same way.
