1. SPEED AT THE OLD PROVIDER

The Ustvarjalni dotik web store, based on the WooCommerce system, was initially hosted with one of the local hosting providers – on a VPS server. The WP Fastest Cache plugin took care of caching, minifying CSS and JS files. The WP-Optimize plugin was also installed to clean up the database. From this, it is evident that quite a lot had already been done for speed optimization, as evidenced by the total loading time of the web store, which was less than 1 second.

2. SPEED IMMEDIATELY AFTER TRANSFER

The owner of the web store decided to test the TURBO hosting package, which is based on the blazingly fast LiteSpeed server. That TURBO hosting is comparable to hosting on a VPS server (in terms of speed) was shown by the results after the transfer of the Ustvarjalnidotik.si web store. The store loaded 14.57% faster, with a lower time to first byte (TTFB) as well. The PageSpeed Insights score also improved slightly.

3. SPEED AFTER NEOSERV OPTIMIZATION

Since the Ustvarjalnidotik.si web store was now hosted on a LiteSpeed server, it made sense to test its performance in combination with the LiteSpeed Cache for WordPress plugin. The previously mentioned plugins (WP Fastest Cache, WP-Optimize) were deactivated and removed, and replaced with the LiteSpeed plugin. This proved to be an excellent move, as the total loading time was further reduced – compared to the initial state by as much as 35.20%. The time to first byte and the PageSpeed Insights score, provided by Google's web tool, also improved.

  • Which tools did you use to test the speed of the Ustvarjalnidotik.si online store?

    To test the loading speed of the online store, we used two tools, namely:

    • Chrome DevTools – this is a tool built into the Chrome web browser. If you also use the browser, you can enable the tool by pressing the F12 key. To perform the speed test, select the Network tab and refresh the web page (e.g., by pressing the F5 key).

    • There was a problem with the update of the core, graphic template, or one of the plugins, which slows down the operation of the online store.
    • Other changes have been made with a negative impact on loading speed.
