How to Display PHP Errors and Warnings on a Website
Displaying PHP errors and warnings can be a great help when building your website and checking its performance, as it makes it much easier to analyse problems and make the necessary corrections to the website.
You can turn on PHP error and warning display in your cPanel dashboard, Software section, Select PHP Version icon.
1. Check additional settings by selecting Options at the top.
2. Activate the display_errors option by ticking the box on the right.
3. For the error_reporting setting, select the value E_ALL & -E_NOTICE.
The new settings will be saved automatically after the change.
Certain errors will be displayed on your website when you visit it, and all errors will be logged in the error_log file.
How do I enable error logging?
It is therefore good practice to use the error_log file to find PHP errors and warnings. You can enable the logging of errors and warnings in the error_log file from the cPanel control panel page mentioned above: Software -> Select PHP Version -> Options. Then you just tick the checkbox next to log_errors.
The error_log file is always created in the folder where the .php file that generated the warning or where the error occurred is located.
Example: an error occurred in /wp-content/plugins/contact-form-7/wp-contact-form-7.php. If the error_log logging is enabled on the hosting package, the error is logged in the /wp-content/plugins/contact-form-7/error_log file.
If your website is experiencing errors, we advise you to enable error_log logging on your hosting package. This will help you find the cause of the errors more quickly and also make it easier to fix them.
We are also always available by phone or email for any further questions.
