How to Restore MySQL Databases with JetBackup 5
If your website stops working after changes or updates, you can restore the website database from backup copies, which are made on the server on a daily, weekly and monthly basis. You can do this via the cPanel control panel.
If you are not sure which database is used by the website you want to restore, we recommend you read the short article “Which database does my website use?”

1. Exporting an existing database
If you have an online shop, if new users can log in to your website or if you publish articles on your website, you may want to export your existing database and store it on your computer. In most cases, you can then import orders and other items submitted after the renewal date into the renewed database. How you do this depends on how your website is set up.
You can export the database manually or during the recovery process using JetBackup 5.
How to do this during the restore process is described in the procedure for restoring a database from backup copies (under point 3). How to do it manually can be found here (read: Database backups).
2. Restoring the database
Before restoring a database, it is recommended to drop the contents of the existing database, otherwise an error may occur during the restoration process, which results in the database restoration process not completing.
How do I empty the contents of a database?
1. Log in to the cPanel control panel. You can find the login details in the My NEOSERV Subscription Centre.
2. In the DATABASES section, click on the phpMyAdmin icon. A new tab will open where you will be able to access the database that needs to be emptied before the restore process.
3. On the left-hand side, select the database you want to empty. Then click on“Check all” to select all tables of the database. Click on the“With selected:” box and select the“Drop” option.
4. Click on the“Yes” button to confirm the emptying of the database tables.
You can now close the phpMyAdmin tab and continue with the database recovery process.
How to restore the database?
1. In the cPanel control panel, click on the JetBackup 5 icon.
2. On the home page of the JetBackup 5 interface, click on the Databases icon.
If you are not on the home page of the JetBackup 5 interface, first click on the Home icon or the House icon in the left-hand menu.
3. In the list, find the database you want to restore. As there is only one database on our hosting package (example in the picture below), only one database is visible in the list. If there are multiple databases on your package, the list will show all the databases that are on the package.
If you want to restore a database on a different date, first click on the Choose Other Backup button next to the selected database and select the desired backup date from the drop-down list.
We advise you to choose backups that have “Local” under “Destination” and not “Remote”, as this will speed up the restore.
Then click on the database you want to restore and click Restore.
If you wish, instead of restoring the database, you can simply download the backup copy to your computer and then manually import it to the server (more complex). If you wish to do this, click on the Download button instead of the Restore button.
4. Click the Restore Selected Items button and wait for the restore to complete.
5. Wait for the restore to complete.
In addition to the database, the website files must be restored on the same date for the website to function properly. You can help yourself with this article.
