Search instructions

With free Domain Name System (DNS) hosting, you can edit advanced records for your domain to point it to the different servers and services used by your domain.

WHAT DOES DNS STAND FOR?

Domain Name System – you can read more about the DNS acronym in this article.

HOW DO I ACTIVATE DNS HOSTING?

You can activate DNS hosting through your My NEOSERV user control panel. You can only use it if you do not have a web hosting package with us.

You will receive the access details for My NEOSERV at your contact e-mail address immediately after placing your order (together with your invoice).

  1. Log in to the My NEOSERV control panel;
  2. Select the tab YOUR HOME / HOSTING;
  3. Click on the domain you have ordered in the list of services;
  4. Select the DNS RECORDS MANAGEMENT tab;
  5. Click on the green Enable DNS record editing button on the right side;
  6. After activating DNS hosting, select ADD DNS RECORD and add the desired record.

DNS RECORD TYPES

A record

“address record” maps a host name to a 32-bit address (IPv4)

AAAA record

“IPv6 address record” maps the host name to a 128-bit address (IPv6)

CNAME record

The “canonical name record” sets the alias of the domain. The aliased domain gets all the subdomains and DNS records of the original domain

MX record

“mail exchange record” maps the domain name to the list of “mail exchange” servers for that domain

NS record

“name server record” maps the domain name to the list of DNS servers specified for that domain

SOA record

“start of authority record” identifies the DNS server that provides certain information about the Internet domain, the domain administrator’s email, the domain serial number and various counters that refresh the scope

SRV record

“generalized service location record’ means

TXT record

allows administrators to insert arbitrary text into a DNS record. For example, comments and notes

  1. In My NEOSERV, select YOUR DOMAIN / HOSTING.

2. In the list of services, click on the domain for which you want to activate DNS hosting.

3. Activate DNS hosting by clicking the green button on the right.
