How to Enable WHOIS Privacy Protection for a Domain
What is WHOIS protection?
During the domain registration process, it is mandatory to enter the details of the domain holder, who can be an individual (natural person) or a company (legal entity). The details of the domain holder are publicly available through the so-called WHOIS database, which can be accessed on various web portals, for example:
The information displayed usually includes the name, address, telephone number and e-mail address of the domain owner. In addition, the registrar’s details are also displayed (for domains registered with NEOSERV, these are our details).
As this is sensitive personal data, many domain owners opt for WHOIS protection. This allows your personal data not to be displayed publicly, but to be replaced by generic contact details of the registrar. This way you protect your privacy and avoid problems such asspam, advertising messages or even abuse attempts.
WHOIS protection is not available for all domain extensions. You can check whether a particular domain supports this option by clicking on the domain extension of your choice in our domain price list. In the“Registration conditions” section you will find the“WHOIS protection” information.
How do I activate WHOIS protection?
If you want to hide your personal data from the public, you can arrange this in the My NEOSERV Subscription Centre.
- In the YOUR DOMAIN / HOSTING tab, click on the domain for which you want to activate WHOIS protection.
- Click on the WHOIS (domain holder) button.
- In the bottom right corner, click on the Turn on protection button.
Alternatively, you can contact our technical support and we will be happy to help you.
- Phone: 059 335 000
- Email: info@neoserv.si
We will arrange for WHOIS protection to be activated on your domain and notify you when it is activated.
