Even if you just have a basic page with a contact form, you can quickly fall victim to online attackers. In addition to contact forms, recommendation forms, sign-up forms and newsletter sign-up forms are the most commonly exposed. If any of these forms are attacked, action should be taken as soon as possible. Read today’s post to find out what happens if you ignore these attacks.

The consequences of ignoring form attacks

If your website is infected as a result of a successful attack on one of your forms and you do not fix the problem, you could face a number of consequences. Check below the three most common scenarios for ignoring form attacks.

1. Dropping among search results

To further protect against spam, Google developed a patent in 2015 to check and analyse the data collected from its spam filters in its Gmail email service. If your emails are frequently spammed, Google will mark the domain from which you are sending spam as a “spam domain”. As a result, your site will rank lower in Google search.

2. Problems with email delivery

If your email recipient database is misused by cyber-attackers, all the emails you send will quickly be labelled as “spam”. This means that your emails will end up in the spam box of your legitimate recipients.

This problem also occurs if you use any of the following services to send emails: Outlook, Hotmail, Yahoo, Live, OneDrive, Tutanota, Elude, Exchange mail, Zoho, Yandex, ProtonMail, Mail.com, MailChimp, EmailDirect or MailGun. Microsoft immediately blocks all users who send SPAM emails through these services.

3. Problems with advertising on Google Ads

Google has very strict rules on its Google Ads platform. These rules include a ban on advertising to websites that contain malware or unwanted software. If you break these rules, Google Ads will block your current adverts and prevent you from creating new ones.

If you do not fix all security issues and if your site frequently violates Google Ads rules due to infection, your Googe Ads account may be terminated.
