Outlook error 0x8004010F is local, which means that it is a problem with the Outlook email client itself. Specifically, it is a corrupt Outlook profile. The error message appears when you try to send or receive an email.

When you click the Send/Receive button, one of the following notifications will appear:

The task "janez.novak@vasadomena.si - send" has an error message (0x8004010F): "Outlook data file cannot be accessed."

If you have English selected in Outlook, you may encounter the following message:

0x8004010F: Outlook data file cannot be accessed.

or

0x8004010F: The operation failed. An object could not be found.

How to fix Outlook error 0x8004010F?

The solution to resolve error 0x8004010F is to locate the current location of the default Outlook data file (PST) and then create a new Outlook profile and set it as the default.

Follow the three steps described below:

  1. Locate the Outlook Data File (PST)
  2. Create a new profile in Outlook
  3. Set the new Outlook profile as default

1. Locate the Outlook Data File (PST)

1. Launch Outlook. Click File -> Options -> Account Settings -> Account Settings….

2. In Account Settings, go to the Data Files tab and note the name and location of your default Outlook data file (the default data file always has a tick in front of it). Click Close.

2. Create a new profile in Outlook

When you create a new Outlook profile with an IMAP/POP3 account, you can do it manually or use the automatic account setup. Below we show the procedures for both ways.

1. Open the Windows Control Panel. Click on Mail in the list to open the Mail Setup – Outlook window.

2. In the above window, click on the Show Profiles button.

3. In the newly opened window, click on the Add… button.

4. Enter a new profile name in the profile creation window. Then click OK.

5. In the Add Account window, enter your user details for your email account and click Next.

This will create a new Outlook account.

Creating an Outlook profile by manually setting up an account

1. In the Add Account window, select Manual setup or additional server types. Then click Next.

2. The Choose Service window will open. Select POP or IMAP to connect to the POP or IMAP account and click Next.

3. In the account settings for the POP and IMAP servers, enter your account details. In the Deliver messages to section, select Existing Outlook Data File and click Browse. Browse to the PST file of the previous account and click OK. Then click Next.

4. In the Test Account Settings section, click Close and then Finish.

3. Set the new Outlook profile as the default

1. Open the Control Panel and select Mail from the list.

2. In the newly opened window, click on Show Profiles …..

3. In the Mail window, select your new Outlook profile and click on the Properties button.

4. In the new window, select the E-mail Accounts option.

5. In the Account Settings window, go to the Data Files tab, select the appropriate Outlook data file and click Set as Default. Click Close to close the window.

So, now a new Outlook data file has been created, which should work without any problems.
