If you receive a 0x800CCCDD message in Outlook, it is an error in the IMAP settings. This error means that the “Send/Receive” function has not been synchronised successfully when connected to the Internet.

Most commonly, the error is displayed as follows:

Error Message: Your IMAP server closed the connection.
Protocol.
Server: server name
Port: 143
Error Code: 0x800CCCDD

How to fix Outlook error 0x800cccdd?

Fix the error in six steps:

  1. In Outlook, click Tools or Send/Receive to bring up an additional menu.
  2. Click on Send/Receive Groups.
  3. Click on Define Send/Receive Groups.
  4. Under the setting for the All accounts group, untick the box that indicates Schedule an automatic send/receive every.
  5. In addition , uncheck the box under When Outlook is Offline for Schedule an automatic send/receive every.
  6. Click the Close button.
