USER INSTRUCTIONS

Search instructions

You can add more domains* to your hosting package. In addition to the carrier domain of your hosting package, you can add a domain to your package as an Addon Domain or as a Parked Domain or Alias. You can also create a Subdomain on top of an existing domain.

* How many domains you can add to your hosting package depends on which hosting package you are using. You can check the information on our website or contact our support. If you want to add more domains to your hosting package than it allows, you can upgrade to a higher package at any time. To upgrade your package or for more information about upgrading, please contact us.

How do I add a domain to my hosting package?

You add domains to your hosting package in the cPanel control panel (login instructions).

  • If you want to set up a standalone website on a domain, add it as an Added Domain or create a subdomain.
  • If you only want to use email on the domain or you want to redirect it to another domain, add it as a Parked domain.

When you add a new domain to your hosting package in the cPanel control panel, you will need to register the appropriate DNS servers for it.

Table of contents

Addon Domain

You can set up a standalone website on an Addon Domain and use email.

1. In the cPanel dashboard, find the Domains section and click on the Domains icon.

cPanel (Jupiter) - Domains

2. Click on the blue Create a New Domain button.

cPanel (Jupiter) - Domains - Create a New Domain

3. Enter your domain in the box, untick the Share document root setting and click on the blue Submit button.

cPanel (Jupiter) - Domains - Kreiranje Dodane domene

cPanel also automatically creates a subdomain of the package’s carrier domain when you create an Added Domain. We advise you to leave the automatically suggested subdomain (normally this subdomain is not used and is only created for the sake of the cPanel itself), but you can also change it if you wish.

4. Wait a moment, and then you should see a notification that the Added Domain has been successfully created.

cPanel (Jupiter) - Uspešno kreiranje Dodane domene

This has also created a new folder on the hosting package (in our case, mojadomena.si), to which you can add your website files using the File Manager tool available in cPanel.

Parked Domain / Alias

You can use the Parked Domain to send emails and, if you wish, redirect the domain to another domain.

1. In the cPanel dashboard, locate the Domains section and click on the Domains icon.

cPanel (Jupiter) - Domains

2. Click on the blue Create a New Domain button.

cPanel (Jupiter) - Domains - Create a New Domain

3. Enter your domain in the box, leave a tick in the Share document root setting and click on the blue Submit button.

cPanel (Jupiter) - Domains - Kreiranje Alias domene

4. Wait a moment and you should see a notification that the Parked Domain has been successfully created.

cPanel (Jupiter) - Uspešno kreiranje Alias domene

By default, the Alias or Parked Domain points to the public_html folder, where the files of the website that is displayed on the carrier domain of your hosting package are located. This means that the same website is displayed on the Parked Domain as on the Carrier Domain (the way it is displayed depends partly on the configuration of the website itself).

This is not recommended, as Google may detect this as duplicate content and penalise your website with a lower search engine ranking. We advise you to redirect the domain added as Alias to another domain.

Redirecting a Parked Domain

You can redirect a parked domain to the carrier domain of your hosting package or to an Added Domain.

1. In the cPanel Control Panel, locate the Domains section and click on the Redirects icon.

cPanel (Jupiter) - Redirects

2. Select Permanent (301) as the redirect type, as you most likely want to permanently redirect the parked domain to another domain. Otherwise, select Temporary (302).

For https?://(www.)?, select the Parked domain you want to redirect to another domain.

In the Redirects to field, enter the URL of your domain to which you want to redirect the Parked domain.

When setting up www. redirection: select Redirect with or without www...

cPanel (Jupiter) - Preusmeritev Alias domene

3. Click on the blue Add button to create the redirection.

This has written the code to redirect the Parked Domain to the .htaccess file for the domain to which you have redirected the Parked Domain.

The redirect code for the Parked Domain is written at the bottom of the .htaccess file. In case the .htaccess file already contains other redirects and the Parked Domain redirect would not work, move the Parked Domain redirect code to the top of the file.

Subdomain

A subdomain can be used to host a standalone website, redirect to another domain, or host your email.

You can create any subdomain you want in the cPanel control panel. If the domain on which you want to create a subdomain has not yet been added to your hosting package, we recommend that you first add it as an Added or Parked domain and then create the subdomain.

You create a subdomain by adding any prefix to your domain, such as blog.vasadomena.si, shop.vasadomena.si, app.vasadomena.si, etc.

1. In your cPanel, locate the Domains section and click on the Domains icon.

cPanel (Jupiter) - Domains

2. Click on the blue Create a New Domain button.

cPanel (Jupiter) - Domains - Create a New Domain

3. Enter the desired subdomain in the box, untick the Share document root setting and click on the blue Submit button.

cPanel (Jupiter) - Domains - Kreiranje poddomene

This has also created a new folder on your hosting package (in our case it is the blog.vasadomena.si folder), which you can access using the File Manager tool available in cPanel.

Entering DNS servers

Once a domain has been added to the hosting package, the corresponding DNS servers must also be registered:

  • If the domain is registered with us, here are some brief instructions to help you.
  • If the domain is not registered with us, you can change the DNS servers with your current domain registrar. Please check which DNS servers your domain needs to be registered with at the My NEOSERV Subscription Centre. You can find brief instructions to help you do this.

After registering the DNS servers, you must wait for the DNS servers to refresh, which usually takes between 2 and 24 hours.

If your email is hosted with another provider (e.g. G Suite, other hosting, etc.), you will also need to edit the DNS settings for your email. Instructions for routing mail to G Suite can be found here.

We are also always available by phone or email for any further questions.
