When registering a domain
Once you have placed an order for a domain registration, we will inform you of the next steps via email as soon as we have recorded your payment. We register the domain after payment, as we have to pay the cost of the domain registration or renewal to the registrar of record for each domain extension.
If you are in a hurry to register your domain, we advise you to choose one of the following payment methods during the order process: credit card, PayPal, PaysafeCard, VALU or cryptocurrency payment.
If you will be purchasing a hosting package at the same time as registering your domain, you can designate the new domain as the package’s carrier domain during the order process. In this case, we will automatically enter the DNS servers for the domain so that it is correctly routed to the new hosting package. However, if you want to connect your new domain to another hosting package (e.g. from another provider), you can set up the appropriate DNS servers for it in the My NEOSERV subscription centre.
When ordering a domain transfer
When you place an order for a domain transfer, we will inform you of the next steps by email as soon as we have recorded your payment. We start the transfer process after payment, as we have to pay the cost of the domain transfer to the registrar of record for each domain extension.
For most domain extensions, the domain transfer is only possible with an EPP code obtained from your existing registrar. For more detailed information on transferring domains between registrars, please refer to the articles:
When ordering web or email hosting
We activate your hosting package immediately after you place your order (before payment). Valid for:
You can start using it immediately, even without registering a domain. If you have ordered a domain at the same time as hosting, we will register or renew it after your payment.
We will send youthe access details for the hosting service in an email after you order it, and you can always find them on the first page of the My NEOSERV Subscription Centre – in the Hosting section.
- Domain access: if your domain is already active on the new server, use the domain name of the carrier domain of the hosting package to log in to the cPanel control panel.
- Access without domain: if you have not yet registered your domain or directed it to the new server, use the server address to temporarily access the cPanel control panel.
In both cases, the access is the same, just via a different address/URL link. Anything you do via the server address (non-domain access) will be stored after the domain is activated (domain access).
With Reseller hosting packages it is a little different, because with this service you will be provided with a link to the WHM control panel in the My NEOSERV subscription centre.
Please pay attention to the username and password for logging in to cPanel (or WHM), as the login details are different from the ones you received to access the My NEOSERV Subscription Centre.
When ordering VPS hosting
When you place an order for VPS hosting, we will set up your server as soon as we receive your payment. Should we need any further information from you, we will contact you. Once the server is ready, we will notify you by email, which includes all the information you need to use your new VPS server.
When you place an order for VPS hosting, you can choose between two types of service:
- Maintained VPS hosting: you receive a turnkey solution with all the necessary software, and you manage the service via the WHM / cPanel control panel.
- Unmaintained VPS hosting: we take care of the basic installation of any operating system, and then give you full root access.
If you have chosen the latter option, you may find the instructions useful:
When ordering an SSL certificate
When you place an order for an SSL certificate linked to your domain, we will inform you of the process required to obtain the certificate when payment is received. The process is not always the same as it depends on several factors:
- whether the domain is hosted on our server or on another hosting provider’s server,
- whether you have ordered a domain (DV), enterprise (OV) or extended (EV) certificate,
- whether you have ordered a single-domain certificate, a wildcard certificate to protect all sub-domains, or a multi-domain certificate to protect multiple domains.
Here are some examples:
- If you have ordered a domain certificate (e.g. Sectigo Positive SSL) and you host the domain on our server, the process is quite easy and fast (a few minutes), because we take care of everything. In addition, we install the SSL certificate on your website free of charge.
- If you have ordered a business certificate (e.g. Sectigo Instant SSL) or an extended certificate (e.g. Sectigo EV SSL), the verification process is longer (several days or weeks) before the SSL certificate is issued, as the issuer must first verify the legitimacy of your company. If you host your domain on a NEOSERV server, we take care of everything after the certificate is issued, and we will also install the SSL certificate for you free of charge.
- However, if you host your domain on another provider’s server, you must provide us with a CSR code before the certificate is issued. You can obtain it in the server environment used by your hosting provider (e.g. cPanel, DirectAdmin, Plesk). Once we have received the correctly generated CSR code from you, we will start the process of issuing the certificate. This is followed by verification of your domain or company by the certificate issuer. Once the verification is complete and the SSL certificate is issued, we provide it to you in a .zip file so that you can install it on your domain in a server environment.
The CSR code ( Certificate Signing Request) is the file we create on the server when we want to obtain an SSL certificate. It contains basic domain and public key information and, for more advanced certificates, company or organisation information. The code is sent to the Certificate Authority (CA), which issues an SSL certificate based on it.
Frequently Asked Questions
1. What is the difference between My NEOSERV and cPanel?
They are two completely separate user interfaces:
- My NEOSERV – a subscription centre where you can view and edit your subscribed services, invoices, contact details, track the status of the partner programme, participate in the promotional programme, etc.
- cPanel – hosting package control panel where you can manage your domains, files and folders, emails, autoresponders, databases, PHP settings, SSL certificates, view statistics, install CMS systems (e.g. WordPress) and much more.
2. I was already using the website and email with my previous provider. How do I transfer them?
If you want, we will transfer the website to us free of charge. We usually complete the transfer within 24 hours.
In this case we need access to:
- the control panel of your hosting package with your old provider (e.g. cPanel, Plesk, DirectAdmin).
Alternatively, you can provide us with:
- archive files of your website and associated databases.
In most cases (if technically feasible), we can also download your emails free of charge. If a direct download is not possible, we advise you to store the e-mail locally and then synchronise it with our server.
For more information on synchronising or downloading your emails, please check the instructions:
3. I would like to set up a website, but I don’t have any experience with this yet. How should I go about building one?
Most of our users choose to build their website in WordPress because it is extremely powerful and relatively easy to use. It offers a wide choice of graphical templates and plugins for additional functionality, and the interface is also available in Slovenian.
You’ll find lots of tips for building a WordPress site in our support centre and on our blog.
If you just need a simple presentation page, we recommend using NEOSERV STUDIO. With it, you can set up your website “on the click of a button” – quickly and easily, without any programming or graphic design skills. There are various packages available, including a FREE package that allows you to set up one content page.
You can find instructions on how to use NEOSERV STUDIO here.
4. I am worried that I will not be able to set up my emails correctly. Do you have instructions?
You can rest easy, as we at NEOSERV have carefully prepared all the necessary instructions for using email. You can also use the filter at the top of our Support Centre (under the blue heading) to find the relevant instructions by first selecting:
- whether you need instructions for the client on your computer or on your phone/tablet;
- then specify the system (e.g. Windows, Apple, Linux, Android, iOS),
- select your email client (e.g. MS Outlook, Thunderbird, Android Mail, Apple Mail),
- Finally, you select the language (Slovenian, English).
If you are not computer or phone savvy and have problems setting up your email accounts, we also offer remote support. Contact us and we’ll be happy to help you get set up so you can start using email today.
